The Comprehensive Classification of fractures was conceived as a global classification of fractures (initially of long bones, now including the vertebral column and pelvis) by Maurice E. Müller et al. It was published by Springer Verlag in 1990. It was accepted by the AO in 1986. And by the SICOT in 1988. It is being currently used in many scientific publications.

This work is based on the revision of more than 54.000 fractures treated by some means of internal fixation. All fractures were reclassified using The Comprehensive Classification of fractures system while a statistical study of incidence covering types, groups and subgroups was conducted.

The Maurice E. Müller Foundation-España is a non-profit Private Foundation. Its main goals are promoting Education, Research and Documentation in Orthopaedic Surgery in order to keep improving surgical techniques in this speciality.

These Notes were produced by Orthopaedic Registrars of the South Australian Training Program to assist study for the Part 2 FRACS Examinations for fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery. Very useful study material for Orthopaedic trainees.
