OCAP is an initiative of the British Orthopaedic Association and the Orthopaedic Specialist Advisory Committee in collaboration with the University of Dundee Orthopaedics Department and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. OCAP is funded through unrestricted grants from industrial sponsors Smith & Nephew, Zimmer, and Stryker.
OCAP’s mission is to improve the quality of higher surgical training in Orthopaedics through the introduction of a competence based portfolio of assessment and coaching tools.
Steering Group
Since its inception OCAP has been directed by a group of practicing Orthopaedic surgeons and trainees drawn from a variety of specialist interests and geographical locations.
David Pitts, David Rowley, Tony Banks, Mike Benson, Peter Brigg, Paul Calvert, Nick Clarke, John Edge, Chris Howell, Clare Marx, Alan Norrish, Matt Revell, Angus Robertson, Lester Sher, Philip Turner, Angus Wallace, Keith Willet.
If you register to this website you can browse through through the short curriculum vitae of the members of steering group which includes their expectations about the trainees.
The web site includes more detailed information about the PBA which are procedure based assessments. Including all the forms needed.
There is also portfolio checklist.
There is a whole section about the qualities expected of a trainee, which I feel that they are very elaborate but useful. Need mindmanager viewer.
